From expert darner and workshop lead Amber Grant:
Darn It! I’ve got a hole in my favourite sweater!
It’s a feeling I think we can all relate to.
The weather cools down, you go to the closet only to discover that those pesky wool moths ate your beloved cashmere over the summer. You just realised you’ve completely worn through the knee of your most comfortable jeans. You see that overnight, an entire network of teeny tiny holes has taken up residence in your favourite t-shirt.
So, what do you do? Wear it only around the house to do chores till it can be worn no more? Send it off to the clothing recycling centre? Use it for dust rags? Grab some nylon sewing thread to suture it and hope no one will notice? Just go out and buy something new?
To that I say nay! Honour the history of your cherished item and wear your repair work with pride, darn it!
