Are you wondering how to start with making your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, and saving on energy bills? Visit an Energy Saving Home in your neighbourhood and find out how your neighbours have approached the challenge. The homeowners will offer short tours and answer your questions about why and how they made the changes to their homes: what was easy, what was difficult, and the benefits they have experienced.

  • 27 Monmouth Road, New Hinksey, Oxford OX1 4TD. A 1930s semi which has undergone extensive energy-saving renovation, including external insulation, high-performance windows and solar panels for electricity. Open 2 pm – 4 pm on both 10 and 11 September. Drop-in.
  • 32 Hunsdon Road, Rose Hill, Oxford OX4 4JE. A 1930s home with added insulation, triple-glazed windows, solar panels for electricity and an air-source heat pump. Open 10 September 10 am – 4 pm. Drop-in.
  • 5 Hutchcomb Road, Botley, OX2 9HN. A 1930s semi, recently renovated to Passivhaus EnerPHit Plus standard including insulation of walls, roof and floor; triple glazing; airtightness; MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery); Air to Air heat pump; Solar PV and battery.
