We have become aware of a number of online consultations that our members’ may be interested in participating in. Two are quite short notice, directly linked to transport issues. The third is the City Council consultation regarding pollution targets.

Park and Charge Electric Vehicle (EV) survey Oxfordshire County Council

Consultation is open until 23^rd October 2020

Oxfordshire is looking to install Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points in a range of public car parks in 2021 through the Park & Charge project.  We want to use this survey to ask people who live in (or regularly travel around) Oxfordshire about your views and understanding of Electric Vehicles, in order to ensure Park & Charge is a success for everyone in the region. This survey should take around 10-12 minutes to complete, and closes at midnight on Friday 23 October.  Thank you!

We became aware of this through links to the EV charging gullies in pavements from the GULOx project. This is also one of the initiatives the Council is interested in considering further.

Highway Code Review (Consultation Survey open until 27^th October 2020) UK Government

This would particularly impact pedestrians and cyclists on roads such as Botley Road.

Consultation description

Consultation seeking views on proposed changes to The Highway Code to improve safety for vulnerable road users, particularly the groups of:

• cyclists
• pedestrians
• horse riders

The main alterations to the code being proposed are:

• introducing a hierarchy of road users which ensures that those road users who can do the greatest harm have the greatest responsibility to reduce the danger or threat they may pose to others
• clarifying existing rules on pedestrian priority on pavements, to advise that drivers and riders should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross the road,
• providing guidance on cyclist priority at junctions to advise drivers to give priority to cyclists at junctions when travelling straight ahead
• establishing guidance on safe passing distances and speeds when overtaking cyclists and horse riders
