About this Event
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, it is revealing the faults in our society that many of us have warned about for some time.
A decade of austerity and forty years of privatisation have left our public services in tatters.
The hollowing out of the welfare state and relentless attacks on work’s rights has made so many people even more vulnerable.
But in the face of this crisis, ordinary people have come together to show a deep well of community spirit and a sense of social solidarity some feared was lost. We will emerge from this crisis, hopefully, with an enhanced sense of society and a deeper respect for our environment.
Oxford East Green Party are hosting a programme of online meetings and events, with an incredible line-up. Inspired by our guest speakers, we will be exploring together what building a better Oxford means for us all.
On 5 June at 5pm*, we’ll be joined by the Oxford-based economist Kate Raworth whose book “Doughnut Economics” has posed a massive challenge to orthodox ideas about our economy and how wealth is created**.
The meeting with be chaired by cycling campaigner and owner of one of Oxford’s most remarkable zero carbon homes, Green Councillor Dick Wolff.
The Q&A will be expertly facilitated by local activists Chris Jarvis, Rosie Rawle and Ellen Lees.
Please join us.
*This meeting will be held online via zoom
